WATCH THE UNVEILING
WATCH THE FISKER SUNSET ROOF IN DEMO

Unveiled at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show, the Fisker Sunset was introduced as the convertible version of the Fisker Karma. The concept combined Fisker’s plug-in hybrid platform with a fully retractable hardtop, giving the car the elegance of a coupe and the open-air feel of a convertible.

My role on the Fisker Sunset was to lead the engineering and development of the retractable hardtop system, including roof kinematics, packaging, structure, supplier coordination, prototype development, and production feasibility.

My convertible roof experience includes work on the Volkswagen New Beetle, Chevrolet SSR, Mercedes-Benz CLK and SLK, Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible, Ford Thunderbird, Chrysler Crossfire, Pontiac G6 Convertible, Chrysler Sebring Convertible, Fisker Karma Sunset, and multiple concept vehicle programs.

This work covered retractable hardtops, soft tops, mechanism packaging, body integration, sealing strategy, structural hardpoints, prototype support, supplier coordination, and production-development problem solving.

PAST CONVERTIBLE ROOF SYSTEMS

Over nearly 30 years, I have contributed to the engineering and development of retractable hardtops and soft-top convertible systems for multiple OEMs. My experience spans concept development, roof kinematics, mechanism packaging, body integration, structural engineering, sealing systems, prototype validation, supplier coordination, and production launch support.

From compact roadsters to luxury convertibles, each program presented unique engineering challenges that required innovative, manufacturable solutions.
